Nip / Tuck’s current season has this side storyline on escorts who pick up people and then surgically remove their kidneys for trading. This was big news some years back with all the mass emails warning people about it. Highly sensationalised, you are never quite sure which of these emails to believe.
Now, Sg has charged 2 Indonesians for selling / offering to sell their kidneys. Big news cos one of the prospective buyers is Chairman of Tangs. So the Health Ministry is reviewing yada yada.
Let me get this clear: You charge the 2 guys who were selling but not the 2 buyers? The sellers lied on their declarations that they were related to the kidney patients and were not receiving money for the donation. You mean to tell me the buyers did not have to do a similar declaration for their part? By any stretch of the imagination, this is not possible.
If the buyers dont get charged, this is absolutely preposterous. And if they do and are found guilty, no point in fining them under the current legislation cos the fine is less than even the price they offered for the kidneys. Money is not quite the issue to these rich people. And can you jail them in view of their medical condition?
Wow, looks like justice just might not be served after all.
