The absent candidate Commenting

So, it seems Anwar Ibrahim will be charged in court on Thursday 7 Aug. Which means that, if he is not allowed out on bail, he will not be able to campaign for the by-election in the constituency vacated by his wife, though he can still contest it.

Easiest way for Anwar to win is actually to be denied bail. He will have an easier job winning if he is not present than if he is.

An absent candidate becomes a symbol. A symbol is stronger than flesh and blood.

Waiting with bated breath for the election happenings. Unless he is charged and found guilty … in which case we will see if hell hath no fury like some malaysians scorned.
